If you meet someone whose soul is not aligned with yours, send them love and move along.

Wayne W. Dyer (via simply-quotes)

fuckyeahyoga: I like how he calls toxic friends someone “whose soul is not aligned with yours”. That’s not exactly how I would word it!

(via fuckyeahyoga)

I like that way of wording it because, someone who is toxic in a relationship with you is not necessarily toxic when placed in an interaction with another. Therefore, your souls are not aligned because they cannot figure out how to create something positive together.

The Ego, however, is not who you really are. The ego is your self-image; it is your social mask; it is the role you are playing. Your social mask thrives on approval. It wants control, and it is sustained by power, because it lives in fear. Deepak Chopra (via lazyyogi)

So if by “intellectual” you mean people who are using their minds, then it’s all over the society. If by “intellectual” you mean people who are a special class who are in the business of imposing thoughts, and framing ideas for people in power, and telling everyone what they should believe, and so on, well, yeah, that’s different. Those people are called “intellectuals” — but they’re really more a kind of secular priesthood, whose task is to uphold the doctrinal truths of the society. And the population should be anti-intellectual in that respect, I think that’s a healthy reaction. Noam Chomsky (via disobey)

After a while you learn the subtle difference between holding a hand and chaining a soul, and you learn that love doesn’t mean leaning and company doesn’t mean security, and you begin to learn that kisses aren’t contracts and presents aren’t promises, and you begin to accept your defeats with your head up and your eyes open, with the grace of an adult, not the grief of a child, and you learn to build all your roads on today because tomorrow’s ground is too uncertain for plans. After a while you learn that even sunshine burns if you get too much. So plant your own garden and decorate your own soul, instead of waiting for someone to bring you flowers. And you learn that you really can endure… that you really are strong, and you really do have worth. Veronica A. Shoffstall  (via eastatlanta)

Nobody is superior, nobody is inferior, but nobody is equal either. People are simply unique, incomparable. You are you, I am I.
I have to contribute my potential to life; you have to contribute your potential to life. I have to discover my own being; you have to discover your own being.

Meditation is just being delighted in your own presence; meditation is a delight in your own being. It is very simple — a totally relaxed state of consciousness where you are not doing anything. Osho (via lazyyogi)

You can easily judge the character of a man by how he treats those who can do nothing for him.

James D. Miles

The problem, often not discovered until late in life, is that when you look for things in life like love, meaning, motivation, it implies they are sitting behind a tree or under a rock. The most successful people in life recognize, that in life they create their own love, they manufacture their own meaning, they generate their own motivation. For me, I am driven by two main philosophies, know more today about the world than I knew yesterday. And lessen the suffering of others. You’d be surprised how far that gets you. Shit philosophy students do:

modus-ponies:

Keep every one of their textbooks. If only for the fact that they tear up the readings with highlighters and annotations.

Those are the best ones to keep!
